In the Winter of 2003-2004, members of the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Nashville wondered why their town, which is famously dubbed “Music City,” did not have a chorus representing the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. Within a year, Nashville in Harmony had their first performance.
The story of Nashville in Harmony is so much more than the story of the growth of a chorus. From the beginning, participating in Nashville in Harmony has changed lives. Countless people, whether singing, serving in leadership, or providing support as an audience member, have been touched by the mission of NiH: “Using music to build community and create social change.” This DVD highlights some of the accomplishments of NiH from the first ten years, including not only the musical excellence and growth in numbers, but also the accomplishments in changed hearts and minds.
