Nashville in Harmony is the most rewarding adventure Don has ever experienced. After a career in the music ministry and the music publishing industry, he is so grateful to have the opportunity to partner with this passionate group of singers in embracing the challenge to excel musically and to make a dynamic difference in the community in which they live. Professional training at the collegiate and graduate levels, and years of experience conducting choirs across the US and abroad, have now come to fruition in the invitation to conduct this unique family of volunteer musicians from all across Music City. NiH members often hear him say, “Let’s stand; let’s sing; let’s change the world.” He believes those three challenges embody who we are:
To stand together, shoulder to shoulder, modeling the colorful diversity of our community;
To sing out a cry for justice with the highest degree of artistry we can attain; and
To partner with those who share our mission to make an impact on our community.
Holling became principal accompanist for NiH in the fall of 2016, after serving as assistant accompanist for several years. Prior to moving to Nashville in 2006, he was the accompanist for the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus (a GALA chorus) for twelve years. He is currently the pianist at Glendale Baptist Church and accompanies music students at the Blair School of Music. He holds a B.M. in piano performance from Bowling Green State University (OH), and a M.I.L.S. from the University of Michigan with a specialization in music librarianship. He is the Director of the Wilson Music Library at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University.
